The ‘Issues In Irish Journalism’ seminar series at the University of Limerick has run since 2009, and to date has had more than 50 guests from the worlds of politics, national and international newspapers, broadcasting, academia and other professions. The series acts as a forum for those who work in the media, or who have reason to comment on the media, to discuss and debate, and challenge ideas. Previous guests have included the former Taoiseach Dr Garret FitzGerald; Ombudsman and Information Commissioner Emily O’Reilly; Cabinet ministers Ruairi Quinn and Brendan Howlin; former The Irish Times editor Geraldine Kennedy; BBC correspondent Gavin Esler; the Independent’s Middle East correspondent Robert Fisk as well as a host of others. The series is recorded in front of a live studio audience of journalism students and is available for worldwide download on iTunes. The executive producer is Tom Felle.
